An image of a misty Chatsworth has scooped the top prize in the Capability Brown category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year awards.

The annual awards are run in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, and aim to find the best examples of garden, plant, flower and botanical photography.

This year organisers decided to mark the 300th anniversary of Brown’s birth with a special category – Capability Brown Today.

The top prize was won by Jude Gadd with an image entitled A Misty Sunrise in Chatsworth Park (above). Chatsworth proved to be a winning site for photographers, with two other shots of the Derbyshire landscape making the final.

An image of Harewood House, Leeds, came second.
